Features and Applications: AZ40M alloy is a magnesium-aluminum-zinc-based, non-heat-treatable, wrought magnesium alloy. At room temperature, the alloy exhibits poor formability, but its plasticity improves significantly at elevated temperatures; therefore, all forming processes must be carried out while the material is heated. The alloy also demonstrates excellent machinability and weldability, with minimal susceptibility to stress corrosion—making it a material of outstanding performance. This alloy can be fabricated into sheets, bars, profiles, as well as complex-shaped forgings and die-forged components, enabling the production of parts that can reliably operate continuously at temperatures below 150°C.
